Codex
A Codex is a special weapon modifier in Sands of Aura. In like manner to Pommels these passive or active effects are learned through unique Codex items found across Talamhel. Codices signify one of three modifiers that are dynamically applicable and changeable besides Pommels and Weapon Heads. Once a weapon has been augmented, the Codex can be swapped at will for Glint, based on the rank of the weapon, through reforging. Applying a Codex to a newly crafted weapon does not carry any additional costs. A Codex is considered an optional weapon modifier and strictly speaking not necessary for the creation of a new weapon.
The application of a Codex changes the visual appearance of a weapon, though it does not change the effective combat range or any other underlying performance attribute. The newly formed visual style is characterized by the unique legacy written upon the Codex, directly influenced by the Kingdom's of Man, ancient hyper-advanced Ferrum or insectoid Hashara.
The boons granted by Codices are far more unique than other modifiers, affecting the way a weapon functions during Spellblade, when dealing critical hits or applying entirely new player character enhancements.
