Quest Overview

The Festival of The Spire is a Main Quest in Sands of Aura. Main Quests are not optional and may alter the primary endings of the game. It is required for unlocking both the islands of Ishular and the Black Rot Chasm.

Part One

As you wake to find yourself greeted by none other than Lawrence himself. Sharing his gratitude, Lawrence informs you the annual festival has begun and that you should take some much needed time to relax. He directs you to speak with Stedston, The Lamplighter, to assist him with the fireworks display if relaxing proves too difficult.

You are free to roam Starspire and partake in activities to earn Emblems which can be exchange for prizes with Mysha. Ignoring these for now, you head to Steadston’s location to the left of the stairs leading to the docks. Once there, Steadston and Delton II reveal someone has stolen the Sand Weaver fireworks. Delton II presents a suspicious dagger that was found nearby and confirms it belongs to Rindell, The Lead Bellwether. To confront Rindell, turn directly from Steadston’s location and proceed up the stairs near Yilda’s tavern. At the top of the stairs turn left and progress to the makeshift parish. Rindell will be to the left and while he tells you he doesn’t have time for your accusations, if you were to best him in the combat tournament it might loosen his tongue. Auggie can be found in the opposite corner of the makeshift parish and speaking to him will allow you enter the combat tournament.

Part Two

After defeating Rindell in the second round of the tournament, you can then confront him about the dagger and missing Sandweaver Shells. Rindel reveals someone has been stealing from the Bellwether barracks and that he believes the dagger was planted to make him look bad. Zale was tracking whoever stole the dagger near the top of the spire but lost the trail. Rindell says if you find the person responsible he will reward you accordingly. From your position in the makeshift parish, proceed back and ascend the stairs near Mysha. Follow the path as it wraps around until you come to Tannen and his Telescope. You’ll notice a bunch of stacked crates and behind them tucked in a corner you’ll find a chest with Delton I sitting atop it.

Delton I is visibly confused and a suspicious powder stains his fingers. Opening the chest reveals the Sand Weaver Shells along with a number of other odd items. Aura emerges to tell you she’d like to explore the festival alone and disappears despite your attempt to accompany her. Returning to Steadston will allow him to prepare for the fireworks show, and after informing Delton II about his father’s confusion, the frightened Bellwether asks you not to tell Rindell. You may choose accordingly based on your preferences but regardless of choice, Steadston tells you that Lawerence is waiting at the docks. Lawrence reflects on recent events and mentions seeing Aura heading toward Melgom’s Cavern. He asks you to bring her to him so he may thank her properly.

When entering Melgom’s Cavern, you’ll find Vickard, The Bellwether. He will tell you that terrible sounds come from the inner chamber. Progressing inside, you’ll find Aura who is using the Azure Flare on a number of corrupted corpses. Confronting her reveals that her plan all along was to try and use the Azure Flare to purify Maveth. Aura then loses herself to Maveth’s influence and his spectral form manifests behind her. Maveth dismisses your futile actions and prepares to take advantage of his new manifestation but thanks to a timely intervention by Mentes, who uses the Khrisom Orb to drop the barrier around Ishular, Maveth’s connection is severed.
