Battle Walkthrough:

Warning: Spoiler Ahead. Read at your own risk.

The Sanctum Beast is a single phase boss, Fought with Lawrence at the player's side.

He will approach you from behind while you are interacting with the water mechanism, before Lawrence alerts you with a shout.

In the early part of the fight, the Sanctum Beast will split it's attacks between you and Lawrence, though it's wide swings often mean it will hit you even if it's not targeting you.

It has several attacks: (All damage values tested with a naked charecter with no armor.)

  • When Close : A slow slash, from left to right, that can lead into two different follow-up strikes: A delayed thrust, or a slow return slash. Either of these can sometimes lead into a third strike if you moved far enough away, a desperate leaping slash that starts with a rapid barrel roll before the bladearm arcs out into a long slam that ends up with the Sanctum Beast lying on his back for a moment. These attacks are reletively easy to parry. 21 base damage
  • When close : A delayed overhead slam where the Sanctum beast will turn away from you and step away a few feet, then suddenly loop its swordarm in a wide arc up over it's head and down onto you with surprising reach. 21 base damage
  • When close : a short backward hop of several feet to gain distance.
  • When at range : A long leap slam with a small area of effect. 32 base damage
  • When at range : A brief charge up before firing a wide beam that travels in an approximately 180° arc around the Sanctum beast from right to left. 34 base damage.
  • When at range : A brief charge up for a straight line beam that persists for a couple of seconds, and pushes the Sanctum Beast back several feet. Heavy damage (number unreadable due to beam).

Lawrence will aid you for the first part of the fight, attracting the Sanctum Beast's attention, though he does little damage due to his advancing age. Ater he takes enough damage, he will be wounded, and slump to the floor, leaving you to fight the Beast alone. Take the opportunies Lawrence is giving you to attack the beast from behind, or protect him by parrying the monsters attacks, to make the fight easier. If you kill the Sanctum Beast quickly enough, you can kill him before Lawrence goes down, though this has no effect on the story or dialogue.
