Quest Overview

Ashes and Dirt is a Side Quest in Sands of Aura. Side quests are optional and do not alter the primary ending of the game, but some may alter the arcs of certain characters. Some side quests are dependent upon other quests to begin or may only become available once the main narrative of the game has been progressed to a specific point. Note: This quest must be completed to equip Talismans with Navae.

"The Leisistral priest, Calder has fallen from glory, taking Starspire's church with him. Though the fire was quelled, he escaped Starspire before he could face judgement for his actions. The church has sent a new priest, a young woman named Navae. She requires the Book of Scripture that Calder took with him on his escape.”

• Travel southeast of Starspire in search of the fallen priest Calder and his Book of Scripture.

After her encounter with Lawrence and Galina, Navae will proceed to the docks of Starspire. She will call out as you approach on your way to the Grainwake. Speaking with her reveals that she is uncertain of her new position here at Starspire and wants desperately to fit in. To ease this, she seeks Calder’s Book of Scriptures so that she may begin bestowing blessings upon the people in the town. She directs you to the Ruins of Hurwell as Calder was seen traveling in that direction with a band of graverobbers. From here you have two options, you can proceed to the Ruins of Hurwell to find the Book of Scriptures or you can buy another copy from Galina’s shop along the upper terrace of Starspire. Should you proceed to the Ruins Hurwell, you will find the Book of Scripture near a Calder upon a high platform. The easiest way to get there is to follow the path to right which is a small set of stairs leading up from the platform upon which Danthea first speaks with you upon entering Hurwell. From there you’ll battle a number of corrupted before finding a ladder which will take you to the upper portions of the level. Following the available path, a number of corrupted will engage you along the upper battlements where you’ll eventually find another ladder. Descend and follow the path until you come to the platform with a grave beneath a long dead tree. Here you may speak with Calder and inquire about the book or you can collect it from the ground beside him. Once you’ve collected the book, you can return with it to Navae. She will thank you when giving it to her and she will welcome you to come visit her in the makeshift parish along the upper portions of Starspire. There you will be able to active the Talisman you discover throughout Talamhel. Step By Step After leaving melgoms cavern and entering Lawrences house you leave to an opened Starspire Refuge As you head to the Dock Navae, a priestess in brown robes askes for your help Navae asks you to go to the Ruins of Hurwell to retrieve a book of scripture from Calder. The book is found sitting on the ground next to Calder When you return to book to Navae in Starspire Refuge She will leave the dock area. you can find Navae at a ruined make shift church at the higher terrace of Starspire Refuge Step By Step (Alternate Route) As you head to the Dock Navae, a priestess in brown robes askes for your help Navae asks you to go to the Ruins of Hurwell to retrieve a book of scripture from Calder. You can buy a Book of Scripture from galina for 2,000 glint. When you return to book to Navae in Starspire Refuge She will leave the dock area. you can find Navae at a ruined make shift church at the higher terrace of Starspire Refuge
